Empowering local teachers, improving education standards
Rachna Nagar is a qualified teacher in Faridabad. But she had to quit working in 2008, when she got married and settled down in the Pawata village in rural Faridabad. The R N Malhotra & Anna R Malhotra Charitable Trust took her under its wings and trained her to first teach Maths in the Pawata government school for girls and subsequently gave her the mantle of becoming the Trust’s coordinator for the rural Faridabad education project. Rachna now coordinates with the Trust’s teachers who teach English and Maths to hundreds of children across 4 government schools and a community centre in her residential area, Pawata village.
Rachna has been trained by the Trust to ensure smooth functioning of the project across many villages in Faridabad. She swoops in to handle crisis management in any of the centres where the Trust runs remedial classes in English and Maths. She has gained in confidence, improved her own English and tech skills, ensures that proper processes are followed by the teachers and robust documentation maintained. Like her, all our teachers are being trained in teaching, technology and processes, empowering young women from the villages
